Squier Jagmaster Review |
A few months back I started getting into Jaguars, but being 16 at the time with no job, i wasn't getting one any time soon. So while trading in a particularly crappy sounding Mexi-Strat, i saw on the wall that usually has left handed guitars...a Righty 2008 Squier Jagmaster, Sunburst with tort-pickguard and white seymore duncan pickups for $260. I tried it on a Marshall simillar to my own and immediately fell in love with it. I only got 150$ for the Junk-Strat, and managed to sell pedals i had and didnt use to get the 260$ for the Jag.
It has since become my main guitar replacing my Norlin LP that im to afraid to bring out anymore XD and my trusty heavily modded Squire Strat workhorse which needs a complete overhaul of the pickguard assembly due to flooding O__o...
Its the best Stock Squire i have ever used and even after 7 months, have not modified it in any way. There isn't anything about the guitar i don't like, and it can be used for anything from The Blues to Nirvana and sound great on either.
Currently i have set the guitar up with 8's..yes..8's!! when i got it and for the first month or so it had 10's.
Planned Mods...is hard to say right now as i'm perfectly happy with how it is, and spending money to make it look more like a jaguar with the pickguard/switches/etc is better off being saved towards an actual Jaguar.
"Cookie" is completely gig and recording worthy the way it is now.
Over-all i give it a 10! and i would deffenetly buy another in a different color maybe test out modifications and see what i could get so i dont have to change "Cookie" :D
