I found my lefty JagStang on E-bay a couple years ago - $670. I now realize how lucky I was as I've been looking for another one since and have not seen anything come up.

I couldn't run my guitar like that. I love my Jag but only after I tweaked it to sound like it did in my mind, which in this case involved fitting a Mastery bridge, buzzstop, Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound for Jag pickups, 500K pots in the lead circuit and probably a few other minor tweaks I've forgotten. Now it's really versatile and is my favourite guitar in the world. If I'd been forced to keep it stock it would have been useless to me.

I appreciate that the person who wrote the article has found if he sticks to the original design specs the guitar works for him. That's fine, but a lot of what he says are personal preferences. If we all stuck to the original intentions of the designers we'd never get anywhere... imagine if the great Les Paul had said "hey, I really shouldn't cut up this old Epiphone body and attach the wings to this block of wood with a neck on it". Then there'd be no semi-acoustic.

:::STAN FLAHAUT:::

I bought my Jagstang at a pawn shop and worried for a long time that it was incomplete or had second-hand parts. Turned out to be all original but even then I wasn't sure if my setup was correct. These videos helped me get a good visual idea of how it's supposed to piece together.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-w02DtCsCk (parts 1 and 2)

As far as I can tell the bridge is supposed to fit loosely so it kinda rocks back and forth. It been working good for me. You could also replace it with a totally different bridge as well (I believe Cobain did).

:::AND A QUESTION TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC:::

Anyone know what kind of tremolo bar to use with the vibrato? All I can seem to find are the threaded kind.

Actually, it wouldn't be too difficult to make one if you were down with a 30" scale. Get a Warmoth Jagstang body without a bridge rout and a USACG Bass VI neck. Rout for the bridge pickup, drill holes for the bridge. Jagstang Bass.

I have one, absolutely love the thing, my favorite guitar and am looking for another one...I think I must have been the only person who got one in Sunburst...I have not seen or heard of anyone anywhere having one in that color..I had a mic stand fall on mine so it has a nice flaw in the finish, but hey..adds character right?
