I am thinking about changing my pickups since the ones in my jag-stang sound muddy. I'm thinking a SD Hot Rails in the neck, and a SD JB in the bridge? tell me if you think that is a good idea, if not tell me what is a good idea.

Thank you :-D

I will most likely get a JB, but has anyone ever tried hot rails? Does anyone have one?

Well at least someone admits that what're they want to do is turn a Fender into a Gibson.

There's no need to put a Hot Rails in the neck position. That's overkill. Seriously. There are also loads of better pickups than Duncans. If you go for Bill Lawrence, they'll hook you up right, but there's a waiting period from the time you order, about 4-6 weeks but everyon esays it's worth it. FWIW the 24" scale is part of the muddy tone, along with basswood and crummy hardware.

yeah, i thought the point when kurt "designed" the jagstang was to combine the things he liked about cheap guitars with distinct tone. then again, he also hot-rodded his mustangs and jaguars. . . and played gibsons.

i read somewhere that he definitely preferred the jap strats to american ones (except for the saddles).

what gibsons did he play, and when in his career? oh, right, an epiphone SG once, before he was playing any fenders.

kurt knew nothing about equipment. he did no work on guitars himself. furthermore, i dont think he ever had an american made anything. fender gave him MIM because they knew he'd just trash it anyway.

not true. In the early days of his career, before Nevermind, he did all his own mods, and would take parts off guitars to repair others and repaired guitars that he'd smashed as well.
