DONE. PLENTY OF FINISHED GUITAR PICS ON PAGE 02.

I've wanted 1 since like 2004 and now the first bits and pieces are in my grubby hands :D

2004 was the last year I've owned a 6 string electric. Since then I've played 7strings and an 29" scale 8string baritone for the last year. Literally this thing:

I've gotta say it's shocking - the JS neck feels like a toothpick to me :lol: My left had just swallowed it :o Hendrix with a thumb over-top barre wankery mode will be initiated as soon as I assemble this thing :twisted:

I detect win, Captain!

May I suggest a fun Day-Glo paint job?

Maybe just a walnut stain?

You gotta do it up real fancy and crazy looking, or real conservative and old-school Fender like.

This is the first batch of parts. I don't think I'll do any working myself, just order the parts and make them work together.

Will order a finished body and a pickguard from Warmoth later and then all the rest of hardware & electrics from a friend in Arizona.

Will keep all the cosmetics in a cheap mode, solid color or tranparent;

alder or poplar body.

White or black pickguard;

3 way toggle and SD SSL-5 ant SD TB-4 pickups in black or white, high end 500k pots, caps and jack from my Prestige Ibanez left overs (knobs and strap buttons too);

pimp Gotoh 510 BN tune-o-matic:

Sperzel tuners with staggered posts:

and block the dynamic-vibrato contraption in some solid way.

Maybe get two pieces of metal machined to be inserted in the spring cavities and screw the lipstick stopbar onto them.
Or maybe drill 2 holes in the body precisely where holes from lipstick stopbar lineup and lock it to the body with 2 long screws through-body stile.

I think drilling 2 holes and producing 2 custom screws would be cheaper.

Kool and the gang.

Where d'ya get that JS neck from? Even people that hate the JS admit the neck is one of the most wonderful on this planet.

I thought It would be nice to get the Gotoh locking and post height adjustable tuners that would fit in the Kluson mounting holes right in, but they're even more pimp than the 510fb bridge - $150~200 a set and Sperzels are only around $70 a set.

I won all these things from reliablefender on ebay, they had a dismembered JS couple of weeks ago.

:lol: $200

I've inspected it better today and there might be a need for a fretjob or even refreting :-hateit

You can see this kind of greenish color close to the 2 fret in the pic and there is a groove there, I don't know maybe previous player used capo too much.

All the rest of the fretboard is rather scratched too, I don't know if this is consequence of a fretjob done by a monkey or previuos player liked to pick over the neck.

Good news are neck is pretty straightISH :lol: and truss rod seems to be working fine.

yeah thats good man. Thats what turned me off of bidding on it the greenish color. You got it from the reliable fender or whatever? when they get jag-stangs for sale there usually never too good of shape. i got a reissue body from them in fiesta red. its great i love this guitar. the finish on the reissue is amazing. i was going to buy other parts from them but they were all pitted :( oh well. well this neck that u got is off a blue reissue sonic blue jag-stang if i remeber right. u shud def get a reissue body though, the alder and the thick paint job is oo much better then a warmoth or a original body

Yeah it's from reliablefender. Well it came from 15 year old instrument, so the wear stands for the reason.

I'm planning on Warmoth body because of the countours.

One thing that really surprised me was the string retainer. I'd never expected to find something that whimpy on a Fender guitar. Looks like someone used teath to cut it out and bend :lol: My first gitar, soviet double fat strat knock off had better ones :lol:

very cool, good luck with the project and keep us posted.
btw, it doesn't need a refret, just a fret level and crowning.

How do you know? I want to re-radius the board and use extra-large jumbo frets
