Not asking which one you play, since I'm guessing you all play both like I do. But which one do you prefer playing? To me, Rhythm's probably more fun more of the time, but Lead playing definitely has it's moments, especially in a band situation... What's yr opinion?

Rhythm. I'm quite interested in texture, so I really like playing rhythm guitar.
currently enjoying music from: Sarah, Slumberland, Fortuna POP!, K, Postcard and PopGrooves Records.

Yeah, I do love textural stuff on Guitar... A lot of Shoegaze is more two Rhythm Guitars than one Rhythm and one Lead. If I was in a Rawk band though, Lead playing would probably be cooler than Rhythm.

Personally, I like to do both and mix them up. I do not think I could choose between the two.

I had to take a guitar to work one day so i could tinker with it.
Any way somebody asked me, "Do you play guitar then?" Yes" I responded. "So what is it you play then? Bass?" "Er no this is'nt a bass." "Oh right so is it lead guitar?" "Yes" i said. "I play lead and rhythm. Its all the same to me."

Now up until now this conversation was pretty dull and i could'nt wait for it to end, however, at that point my co-worker asked me a question that made my day. It just made me feel all happy inside an confirmed my opinion that 90% of people are stupid and un-educated.

"So is that a rhythm guitar or a lead guitar you've got there?"

When I play guitar, I tend to play in Drive Like Jehu/ Fugazi/ Sonic Youth type bands. There really is no definitive "lead" or "rhythm", so I just put lead, because 9/10 times I'm the guy making the funny high pitched noises...

Indeed I do, I know all of you. Nobody in Stevenage, I meant though. But if I ever move to London, I'd be more than happy to play Bass for you in a classic Thrash band lol.
In fact, if I'm ever near any of you, we should at least have a jam...

I couldn't choose...they flow into each other.
