I picked up this body today on ebay. It is poplar. I think it should be a fun project. This will likely be a slower one because I don't have a huge cash flow at the moment.

Planned Setup:
Mustang Hardtail Conversion
Tune-O-Matic Bridge or Adjusto-Matic Bridge
Warmoth Neck (Either 9.5 to go with the Adjusto-Matic or 12 to go with the Tune-O-Matic) with MATCHING Headstock
Red Bowlingball Swirl Pickguard or Parchment Pickguard
Stock Black or White Mustang Neck Pickup (Depends on Pickguard)
Either Hot Rails, JB Jr, or Full JB (I think I will go with the smaller version since I have a full JB in my other Mustang.)
Either Black Switches or a Toggle Addition
Stock Knobs and Plate
Same Tone and Volume Setup on my other Mustang

I will post updates as they happen, but for now enjoy the pictures.

I am psyched. I can't wait to get parts. I spent a lot of today looking for ideas for it. I like the red tort look with the blue, but part of me doesn't want to have another Kurt clone guitar. I would like to have some personal touches.

Nice lookin Poplar body...light. Any idea who made it?

Like the image of a matching headstock with parchment guard.

Have fun!

It was made by Fender Japan. It is Daphne Blue (DBL) and is a 65 reissue (MG-65). It is one of the newer bodies since it is poplar instead of basswood. :) I am interested how Daphne Blue looks compared to Sonic Blue.

I am thinking of having the horn switch work as a rhythm lead switch like a Jaguar or Jazzmaster, but Mustangs have an On/On/On switch vs an On/On. Since the switches are different sizes (On/On vs On/On/On) I need to try to make it work. Just need to figure out the wiring.

Here is what I came up with. Not sure if it would work. Any of you wire junkies that have feedback, I appreciate it. This way uses a normal On/On/On switch. If I have things worked out correctly, up should be no sound with either pickup. Middle position on either should work as a lead setting like on a Jag but with full volume and tone. Down should be normal controls with either. How does it look? With the off option I shouldn't need a toggle. I can just turn either pickup off.

Another wiring option I came up with. It would require a custom pickguard for the smaller neck On/On switch and it would add a toggle. It gives phasing options along with a lead/rhythm switch.

Possibly my most interesting mod. This one makes it work similar to a Jaguar. It has a rhythm/lead switch (with full volume and tone), a bass cut switch, and a toggle. (If I have things drawn up correctly.)

After playing around online, I think I might end up with it looking sort of like this.

It didn't turn out like I had planned, but I like it. Here it is all together. Routing went fine but I stuck with stock style wiring and orange drops. Just need to get out and buy some stings and strap locks and it is good to go.

Absolutely beautiful. Bet she screams and growls and honks like a wild thang.

Glad you chose the Mother of Toilet Seat. Gotta wonder, "How would a matching headstock have looked?"

Enjoy!

Thanks! I like matching headstocks. Normal is also cool though. I like the white tuners.

All done! Here are some glamor shots. :D I decided to put on some BT knobs. The chrome knobs were too much silver for my tastes.

Yep, I'm with ya on the white tuners. But I liked the chrome knobs...sort of blended in and let the beautiful pickguard do the talkin.

Very nice axe, HNB, and ya gotta tell us how she sounds.
