I agree completely. The vaselines and the meat puppets get a pass. I enjoyed theirs, but if i didn't, Kurt loved them and he would have insisted they be on there. I wish they would have used the melvins version of teen spirit with Leaf. I have played teen spirit for friends on an acoustic to show them why it wouldn't work on unplugged and i think now, after hearing the meat puppets do it, it worked better than i thought. I have always wanted to do something in the way acapella. I feel that the melody is strong and needs no accompaniment. Jeff and the brotherhood nailed it. The vaselines version of lithium is so dark with the church organs and i love it. I have been in a dark church organ phase. I thought polly had a weird twist also. The charles bradley song has me speechless. You hated it right? it was like cee-lo did it or something. The level of balls and creativity to do a song that way blows my mind and i am one of the bigger nirvana fans on the board. I respect creativity in music period so i was ok with it.
Thanks for listening to it! Glad to hear your opinions.
While I agree that the meat puppets get a pass(cause I love them) I was not impressed by there cover,I think kurt could have put a little more soul/screech into it.The Melvins version would have been more suiting. As for the vaselines....man it gave me goose bumps. I just kept thinking that they should have played that at Kurts funeral...cause man....it was eerie!Charles Bradley was amazing,it was the perfect song to do in that style,it just worked.I agree more with your inital statement saying it was in the James Brown fashion, wayyy more tact than being akin to clo green. Also, EMA's cover of Endless Nameless was simply fantastic....I now want to have her babies...and she plays mustangs/jaguars too!
Sounds like me and you will get along,Nirvana is my favorite band...period! I have almost gotten into fist fights when someone starts talking #### about them. Did you read my post above? I have a really deep connection with them cause I lived in aberdeen, and its where my Mom and grandparents are from. Krist is my pen pal,I just got an awesome card from him with a signed red and black Nirvana sticker.I am hoping to make it up to the EMP Nirvana exibit by the end of the year, and see if he will meet with me,I want to get him to sign my copy of Hormoaning.
