Maybe use the same tubes that the Orange's use? Other than that, you could look into what cap values and such Orange uses and changs your Fenders caps to those. I would probably just save up and get the Orange you want or you will likely still be wanting one eventually.I want to get an Orange amp but can't shell out $500 for right now, but also don't want to settle for a solid state. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've searched around and it looks like the cheapest tube they make is the AD-5, which is $500...I have two fender champ amps, the vibro and the super-any suggestion on making these sound more orangy?

You realise this is essentially How To Blow Your Amp Up 101 right? Seriously man, very bad advice.
Your second suggestion was spot on though; save your money until you CAN buy an Orange, and then buy one. On a tighter budget the Tiny Terrors are pretty badass and loud enough for pretty much anything short of a stadium gig.

I don't see how it is bad advice. If there are compatible tubes that could be used, I don’t see that blowing up an amp. I see people change tubes out all the time to get a different sound. How could changing one tube for another with the same rating make an amp blow up? Anytime I have my amps changed, I have a tech do it though because I don’t like doing that wiring. Matching the tone pots better could get a more similar sound too. I would advise having an amp specialist look it over and give input because they will likely have some good advice for modding an amp, but I still think that it would be better to buy the amp you want. In the long run, you will still always want that amp even if you could get yours to sound just like it.You realise this is essentially How To Blow Your Amp Up 101 right? Orange amps = EL34s/ EL84s
Fender amps = 6L6s
Not compatible. Never will be.

There aren't any 6L6s with a sound similar to an EL? Just curious.Orange amps = EL34s/ EL84s

It's not that they don't sound similar, although they don't, 6L6s are much more "glassy" and clear in the high end whereas EL34s etc tend to be warmer and more midrangey. But the problem is that they're not compatible in terms of the circuit. 6L6 is a beam tetrode tube and EL34 is a power pentode tube. They're not interchangeable, and if you tried you would do very serious damage to your amp.

I get that you have to use the right tube for the amp, but I know that different 6L6's sometimes have different sounds. I was asking if there are any 6L6's that are more midrangy? People talk about changing brands of 6L6's out because they have different sounds. I haven't tried it though. It's not that they don't sound similar, although they don't, 6L6s are much more "glassy" and clear in the high end whereas EL34s etc tend to be warmer and more midrangey. Well, in that regard I wouldn't know, I've only ever had an amp that uses EL34s. My experience trying different EL34 brands though (insofar I've been through some original Mullards, JJs, Electro Harmonix, Mesa Boogie and Groove Tubes, with the Groove Tubes being my overall favourite) is that while one might have more power or high end clarity or tighter bass or whatever else than the rest, they all generally have the same overall feel and characteristics, so I might've assumed the same would be the case of 6L6s.

I agree with this. If you want an Orange, save up for it so you get what you want.Save for an Orange, because only an Orange will ever be an Orange, and only an orange is good enough

From what I could tell by playing my friend's 30-watt Orange Head and Cab(Not the dual terror, but the OTHER one); Oranges are like the old hot-rodded JMPs only with tighter bass and none of that atrocious biting treble I remember from my friend's old JMP copy. You know, the amp he sold for the Orange?Save for an Orange, because only an Orange will ever be an Orange, and only an orange is good enough

Not much clean head room with the TT's tho plus with that sort of money you could just buy a Dual terror.if i could afford it id have a tiny terror for clean, with a dark terror just a footswitch away, for dirty.
