Hi all, new to this forum. I am currently finishing a strat build, and I've already settled on building a Jag-stang next. The main reason I'm posting now, even though I still have one project sitting unfinished, is that I want to get conversation going about 3-tone sunburst on a Jag-Stang. The main reason I was resisting building a Jag-Stang is that in the stage Fender published them in they are really ugly, but I know that the shape is actually really cool and can be beautiful. I like the idea of having a Jag-Stang that would really be unique and interesting. If anybody has a sunburst of any color Jag-Stang, I would like to see a picture. The end goal is to have a guitar that Kurt would have loved. I'm thinking really fighting to make it be a combo of his Mustang and his Jaguar, more than just a modified Mustang, and having the sunburst would be a nod toward the jaguar.

Seen a couple of sunburst ones done with Warmoth bodies. So if you do that you get a thinner body with contours. I think MumblyJoe back in the day did one with the Jag trem and switches. Looked awesome when it was done.

I assume the contours and the thinner body are both part of making it more along the lines of what Kurt wanted. I'd like to see pics of Mumbly's guitar, that sounds really close to what I want.

Yea I wouldnt go with the reverse angle pickups. Either do the stock route, or keep the neck angled and do a straight humbucker so the pole pieces will line up. That second is a Warmoth body. Used to feature in their gallery on their site.

The plan was to have an angled single and straight hum. It would just drive me nuts if the poles didn't line up. I really like them sunburst. Anyway, I posted pictures of one I photo-shopped to facebook, and now I may be assembling one for a friend of mine.
