Good news first. Ya know that feeling when you get a great guitar, the one that you know is premium but then surpasses your dreams? Well, I'm floating in ecstacy right now, guys and gals. Just played my new axe and it's the heirloom guitar of my life. Les Paul Specials are great, we know, but this particular Special, I can just feel the build-integrity...it's workin with me and just makin me work it a little more. I hear such a range...broad tones, grainy-growly tone like Howlin Wolf's singin, then change the settings and sharp tone, then bite, then viscosity. It's one in a million.

Honeymoon hyperbole. Okay, but reigned in a bit, actually factually true, friends. I'm a very fortunate guy. And speaking of keeping it real...

There is an occasional, occasional "click" when I touch the metal. It's had copper shielding installed, recent replacement of the neck P90 and caps upgrade. So is this a minor grounding issue? It's getting less frequent as I play more...seems odd.

Suggestions, please.

Doug

Sounds like grounding trouble. Did you double check with a multimeter to make sure it is all good?

Thanks, HNB. This will help me when I ask the seller or tech about it.

Ya know, somehow I just knew you'd really understand what I was trin to say, Brandon. It's hard to put experience, especially feelings, into words. And it's even harder in an email. Is that why we have the list of faces  :-hmmm   ?

HA! I'm thinking so but i haven't graduated to those yet!! It's just not the same ha!! I hate texts and facebook messages because i always take them wrong. I need to see facial expression and i'm thinking i should start getting familiar with those little faces. I got you loud and clear though Doug. Hows about a demo video or recording of that les paul??..My les paul is a bad subject. I hate it. It sounds unreal but plays terrible. I had a friend look at it and he said it plays fine so it must be me. He actually played it live with it upside down. So it's strung right handed and he played it leftie and never missed a beat. He told me afterwards that he backed up most of the chords and figured them out backwards in his head. He's the only person besides hendrix that i have ever seen that is capable of that feat. Hendrix actually wrote a solo forwards that was going to be reversed on the record. He could hear what it would sound like backwards while he was writing it forwards! Wow! I think albet king played upside down also. The only problem my friend had was that he kept hitting the controls with his forearm. He had to strum with his elbow way out to not hit everything and it looked funny. I videoed that as well. I went on a video spree when i got my new camera. I can't wait to hear that guitar!

Brandon, I really appreciate it when folks post photos or videos or at least links. But my skills with that are somwehere between lo-tech and no-tech.

Now my wife is a career Unisys rep and has loads of aptitude for doing this. It's just that her posting my fun stuff is understandably a low priority, really for both of us it's low priority though I'd be game if she were into it.

My jammin buddy is also pretty hi-tech and I may ask him if he'd help me to post something.

If I'm goin to the trouble then my intentions are to post a video of my playing some of my own tunes...but that's down the road a bit.
