My white Jazzy is the same thing. Crafted in Japan but with the 97 Serial.

yep exactly, i took the neck off and it has jan 97 stamped on it, so it should be made in japan, but has crafted in japan...whats interesting to note as well is mine has a quilted maple neck, as opposed to the standard maple, never figured that out.

Not sure on mine. I will have to check when I get home. I don't remember off hand.

It kind of does have a quilted look on the edges near the fretboard. Funny.

I'll have to take some photos of my neck, but you'll see that it has a heavy quilted pattern to it more than the ones others have posted...i look at it as it makes it unique...just put a TOM in mine a few hours ago.

Mine is much much more subtile. Yours is very strong. It is on the left edge of mine.

Its crazy how much it stands out on mine lol, but like i said i figure it makes it that much more unique. Whats the year of yours, i know its the same 96-97 serial as mine, but does yours have the stamp on the heel with the month and year?

Mine says Crafted in Japan, but has the old serial. It was made during the switch from Made in Japan to Crafted in Japan.

same as mine then, means it'd be a 97, just not sure of when, as mine is stamped jan 97...its nice to have those little crossover ones that fender doesn't really document well.

Totally! It was really confusing because the serial was for 97 range, but it has the Crafted in Japan sticker above the serial and the 97's were supposed to still say Made in Japan. Cool little crossover to have.

yep mines the same thing, it says the V number being 1996-1997 and crafted being in 1997-1998, fortunately my neck has that stamp that nails it for me....oddly my mustang doesn't.

Some are marked and some aren't. Two of my Japanese guitars have nothing on the neck to date it other than the serial. That is why I am not rushing to take the strings and neck off of my Jazzy. Basically has to be from 1997 because of the serial and the switch of MIJ to CIJ.

yea all my mustang has is MG69RI-LH stamped on it.... i've noticed my jagstang as well as others also has a J-95T stamp , but i haven't found the significance of that yet.
