Hi there !
I just bought the new classic player HH olympic white ! I've got a American vintage too ... so i'm gonna compare just for fun ... ! :o) !
The classic player it's more like a pre-mod ''standard jag'' So, for all the ''sick Nivana fan''(in a positive way of course!)It's like the real deal ... Don't need to put a large amout of $$ just to buy the axe,put a Chainsaw in it, rip-off the bridge and change the singles coil .... No need to put Tuck tape on the rythm channel ... He dosen't exist !!
They put a ''kill switch''(not very effective) and the two rolling pots are for the ''split coil'' ... (works very well btw)
I bought this guitar for is sustain ... (go read my other review) So i can use my US for is real pupose ! (that's why a made reversible mod on my US)
This axe sound and feel good and still respect the ''jag tone'' in a modern way ... (in full humbuker position, it remind me a bit of gibson SG's tone...with twang !!!) For a Mexican, the finition is great ! in fact, right out the box,i saw more default on my US .. !?!
A bit over price, no hard case,no strap etc ... But like i said it's still less expensive to buy that ''rock ready'' guitar ...than starting to mod ...
I still prefer my american vintage cause that is more my kind of tone but ... the new classic player is A LOT more versatile !For me, the ''off-set'' body is the most confortable ever; so for project like hardrock band, cover band etc.. the classic player is a very good altenative ... More reliable ...(just think about the bridge ...)
