Fender Jag-Stang Review

Author: Casey

I have a 50th aniversary Jag-Stang,Fiesta Red. I love this guitar.

In a nutshell,Reliability,Id trust this guitar enough to gig without a backup. Action, the neck is PERFECT,its almost as thin as an Ibanez, the strings arent even a milimeter off the frets all down the neck. The only thing Id change is the frets, I cant stand those tiny things,it needs super jumbos (just an obsession I have with all my guitars).mustang bridge, pickguard, switches and controls.Vintage style tuners.

Sound, now for the bad part, the humbucker, and single coil, are, well, underpowered, and horrible sounding,to put it lightly.Really,im not lying, whoevers idea at Fender it was to put these, sub squier quality pickups in it should be slapped, well maybe if you play country or folk youd like it,its crazy bright and jangly (even with super heavy gain),like a old single coil, but theres no soul.

Also the wiring, these look to be cheap-o 250k pots and junk capacitors.Im playing through a Marshall JCM200 DSL/1960A cab.All in all,its an amazing guitar, with awful electronics.

All I plan to mod it with is new pots/caps,Dimarzio pickups, locking tuners, though the ones on it work great, dunlop super jumbos, graphtec nut and a tuneomatic, nothing major.Best thing is,it just keeps gaining value,I paid $540 for it last year with the original case,Ive seen some on ebay for $650-$900 :)
