does the jag/jazzy allparts tailpiece have a threaded trem arm or is it the same as the fender japan ones?

this here labelled 'japanese' is an aftermarket trem arm. no jazzmaster or jaguar trem arm was ever threaded

i think my cij jag from ebay came with a strat trem arm. i know it did. but i like it a lot better than the identical, but completly factory cij jag i played at the local shop. the stock jag trem bar is way too close to the body of the guitar for my likings, the strat bar is juuuusst right.

you haven't enough leverage with a strat trem. it's harder to press down

no, no it's not. i do it every day. and i find it much more comfortable than the jag arm.

I have a vaguely related question that I don't consider as worth a new topic. My dad was in a Luthiers the other day buying some things, and he mentioned my Jazzy to the guy in there, and mentioned the bridge problems. The techy guy reckons that Jazzmaster/Jaguar bridge saddles are made from bits of a chopped up and filed grub screw, which is then drilled to be useful. Is this true, or was it once true on some old Fender, or is it just bollocks (like I think it is)?

It could just be my Dad being confused about the bridge though.

well yeah, that's what a thread is. it's just a threaded screw that's been cut up. best way to make it too

The actual saddle is made that way? I thought it would be easier to cast them rather than cut up a thread and file the edges etc.

nah the thread gets cut into the bar by a sharp implement. it's perfect already

No, far from perfect, the damn thread naturally runs at an angle, so it's an uphill battle to keep a string in there from the getgo.
