I just recently started playing with big line 6 amp heads and cabnets, and i noticed that my JS (when the amp is on "insane" and "crunch" effects) gives off a ton of feed back...if i touch the strings lightly it goes away. would this be normal, or do u think it is the guitar???

Try it with another guitar and you'll know pretty quickly. My guess is it's the amp anyway. Is there a noise gate built into those amps? That should get rid of it. I somtimes use a Line 6 Guitar Port for practice and there's definitely one built into that.

Some noise is normal on a single coil but humbuckers are supposed to cancel it out. My guess is that those particular amp settings are making the noise worse. A noise gate should solve it.

yeah humbucker just cancels out the hummmmmmmmmmmmm not feedback, actually i find a humbucker to give more feedback....

Lots of distortion/overdrive, especially many of such pedals switched on simultaneously, will create feedback easily. Your "Insane" effect sounds like lots of distortion to me.. I've played with EHX BigMuff (Ru) & Boss DS-2 simultaneously in the effect chain. Both on makes a lot of extra backgrond "hum" noise even with only a little bit of distortion/sustain turned on in the pedals, with higher distortion settings it's all feedback if there isn't a chord or note played.

So I guess it's because of the heavy distortion... But trying with other guitars using the same effects is a good idea. You can always use the guitar's volume pot or pedal the distortion off when you're not playing and don't want the feedback screaming.

Quite right. Humbuckers only cancel out mains hum.

ive got the original humbucker from the jagstang in the neck and a jb in the bridge, and the neck humbucker sounds better...just thought u should know..............

Where? Two humbuckers on a Jag-Stang? Got any pics? The sound is always a subjective thing, different people like different kind of sounds.. But the neck position of the pickup affects the sound too, not only the type of pickup.

yeah the original humbucker in the bridge sounded like #### just like everyones always says, so i replaced it with a jb, sounds good a lil too trebley but still good, then i put the old one in the neck and it sounds great in the neck, sounds totally different than in the bridge spot, and when i put both humbuckers on it sounds AMAZING! the clean can nail hendrix on little wing, it sounds kinda single-coily, and with distortion and rolling back the tone control makes the BEST bluesy "warm woman" slash-allman bros tone......i wouldnt lie....

Save the pic to your hard drive, then go to http://www.photobucket.com and start a FREE account, upload your pic to that account, once it's there you can remote link it anywhere, so copy and paste the bit below the pic on photo bucket called "BB Code" into your post on Jag stang.
