Bridge Pickup

I currently have a jag-stang with stock pickups and I would really like to replace the bridge with a humbucker that will give me a Sonic Youth type sound. i looked at the Dimarzio bluesbucker for a P-90 tone abd also the Virtual PAF. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

sonic youth sound mostly comes from thurstons peavey cabs. p90s should work too. get a gibson p90 humbucker size

if you cant be bothered to fill the wholes in so theyre fit for a normal p90 get this. i suggest selling the jag stang and buying a jazzmaster

Every part of a rig shapes the sound- it's not like the key to Sonic Youth's sound is a speaker cabinet..

Besides, doesn't Lee use humbuckers?

yep. lee mostly uses his custom jazzblasters which are like jazzmasters but the have tele deluxe pickups:

i suggest you get one of those if you want to go sonic.

yeah but their clean/crunchy tone comes from the peavey 5150. thuston and lee both use big muffs, turbo rats, phase 90, blue boxes and many other pedals, but most of the sounds are from thurstons peaveys

Thurston uses Marshall cabs and peavey heads.

oh yeah, i didnt notice that

nowdays hes using a peavey roadmaster head and a jcm 900 cab i think

he also uses fender twin reverb sometimes
