Knobs!

Ok, I'm looking at a Jagstang at the moment but it doesn't come with the original knobs, are they the same as normal Jazz Bass knobs? Also, I saw in another thread that the Mustang trem arm is exactly the same, would that be the US or the Japanese Mustang trem arm? I have no idea what the difference is, but I've seen them both for sale so figured there must be something, I imagine it needs the Jap one since it's a Jap guitar but I thought I'd check.

Ah, cheers mate, but the reason I was asking about Jazz Bass knobs specifically is because I know where I can get them in the UK. If they're not the same I'm happy to order from the States, but it's just easier if I get them over here.

they're not jazz bass knobs. theyre the ones mxr pedals have on them

depends which jazz bass you're talking about, doesn't it? i would have thought the japanese jazz bass will have the retrofit ones too.

so if these jazz bass knobs you can get are retrofit, then you could get those

Jag-Stangs use the generic Mustang/Jaguar knobs don't they?

Yeah, they're not Jag-Stang knobs I don't think. Are the two biggest ones the same size?

nah, those knobs only fit solid shafts, and therefore are no good to you

Ah ok, so I'm looking for knobs like those but the press on variety rather than the ones with screws? And does anyone know whether it should be the US or Jap Mustang arm?

I got the guitar by the way, I figured I'll be able to sort everything out so just went for it.

I replaced the knobs on my JS with a set I bought at Radio Shack for about $2. They have set-screws in 'em so you can adjust them to whatever size pole piece. These knobs look just like the originals (which I still have) but they're extra-huge... I thought they looked kinda cool. Don't know if you have the shack in the UK though...

Also, sometimes knobs will not fit on the post of a potentiometer because the post ends (which are two split pieces of metal) have been squeezed together. Just stick a flathead screwdriver in them and pry them out a bit.

Oh, and the trem arm... I went around to music stores and asked about spare trem arms they have hanging around. No way they're gonna have a Jag Stang trem arm new in the box and probably not a mustang either. Anyway, they had some random trem arm that fit, just a little too long on the bridge end. No worries, just chopped off an inch or so with my dremel and viola! Fits like a glove and it cost me $5
