New Tuners

i want to put some new tuners on my jag-stang but don't know which ones would work best. any suggestions?

Why are you changing? I personally think the stock tuners work great, but if you're unhappy you've clearly got something in mind...

gotoh or ping copies of kluson deluxe, which are the ones already on.

i know it sounds like we're being "keep it stock!" fanboys, here. but it really is my honest opinion that there is nothing wrong with these tuners. try injecting them with grease

i've been thinking about changing them because i'll be tuning it up and then the tuning knobs will come loose and just turn, while not tightening or loosening the string. when the interior part of the tuner catches again and starts tuning, the string will then go way out of tune.

this particular jag-stang of mine is already no longer in stock condition, it has a tortoise shell pickguard and seymour duncan pickups.

sounds like the gears are worn out

yes, so i want to put on new ones. i don't know a lot about which tuners would fit on a jag-stang, but i take it these klunson deluxe copies would fit without having to drill any new holes in the headstock. i'm guessing all-parts must carry them.

the problem you are experiencing is called "backlash." All you need to do is replace them with stock replacements.

Yeah, normal tuners work very well if they're not broken like yours seem to be!
