I've had two Jap Jag's and they've both been of a high standard of build quality. I've never played an original or an AV, but compared to other guitars of a similar price, and some more expensive guitars, I'd say the Jap Jag's were better. Bad p/ups is a bit much as well. They tend to feedback in high gain situations, but they weren't designed for that in the first place and I like the tone out of mine just fine, I wouldn't "upgrade" them for AV p/ups or 3rd party p/ups because I like the sound out of them. Expensive isn't always better.

You could always not pay the guy and get a (SHOCK HORROR!) negative feedback.

If I was considering to buy anything for $800+ I wouldn't think twice about thinking twice, if that makes sense 😆. The seller can put it back on ebay immediately, and I don't lose my money for something I don't want. The politics and honour of ebay aren't a facet of my character when it gets to alot of money. In my honest opinion you paid more than I would've done but it does look really nice 😁

I paid about $500 for my re-issue (has a few dings 😛) when Jaguars were pretty unpopular and Fender hadn't started the most recent string of re-issues, all you could buy first hand were custom shops. Over here, any first hand re-issues you DID find, retailed at about

I agree the stock pups sound excellent in clean and overdriven situations, also if you did want to use heavy distortion waxpotting costs nothing anyway.

Thanks for the input George, I agree my father did pay too much for the guitar. I got the seller to throw in a hard case since he made out so well, but its the thought of my father that counts. I asked my dad if he cares that he over paid for the guitar and he said he only cares about me being happy with the guitar (which i am) so I will accept the guitar and enjoy it!

The seller says its amazing and sounds great so I am excited, should be receiving it this weekend. My other guitar is an American Strat Plus I have had since 1996 that sounds brilliant, so I am excited to change up Tone, and get the Jag into the Mix.

Wish me luck, I will update since I am sure a few of you are curious to the quality of a very expensive MIJ Jaguar.

Lucky my dad has always supported my musical interests. Most parents won't fork out the money for an American Strat for their semi-beginner 17 year old guitarist, but dear old dad always is down to help me out. Two christmas's ago he bought me an Alvarez Acoustic Electric, and now this year the Jaguar.

Gotta love parents who vicariously live through their children.

I wish I had the kinda parents I could take for a ride. I have been on my own since 17, taken care of myself ever since. Parents never had much, so dad always tried to do special things for me through the years. Helped me rebuild a truck so i could have a car when i was 18, bought me a strat when I was 17 so i could play a nice guitar, (that i had to pay him back for...in his words "to teach me responsibility") the acoustic, and now the jaguar.

so if allowing him to do something special for me at 27 cause he has some extra money is "taking him for a ride" and it would break his heart for me to deny his gift, then i'm happy to buckle up, take the ride, watch his face fill with joy, while he does his best to make me happy.

which he wistfully does.

you'll see...parents do strange and amazing things for you when you get older, and you do the same for them.

Previous posters are correct about the price and pickups. I just bought a CIJ Jaguar locally (for less) and almost immediately swapped out the pickups to AVRIs (making my deal less sweet). I am not sure they sound better. In fact, they don't. There, I said it; I liked the Japanese ones better. They were more "raw". More snotty with more attitude. They really suited the Jaguar. And the fact that they are not RWRP probably helped in this regard. Yes, all subjective, I know.

Postscript: I sold the CIJ pickups for exactly what I paid for the AVRIs (and then I patted myself on the back). If I had to do it all over again, I would not have traded. So, that's the thing, the guitars are not equivalent.

Sorry for being defensive Tweez, i probably sounded more serious than intended. I appreciate the concern.

i don't think i could ever spoil it, the older I get the better our relationship gets.

don't get me wrong, momma is cool too, but mom isn't buying a Jaguar right now so I haven't been focusing on her awesomeness.
