My first riff.Any hints?

Note:This is the first riff that i've written so if it dosen't make sense or if it makes sense but ive got the theory wrong tell me what ive got wrong and give me tips.

Its in the key of D minor(i think) and its C time

If it works its a pretty standard grunge riff.So with that in mind ide have the gain to 7 the low to 5 the mid to 8 the high on give and the volume on 10.To be specific ide be on the lead channel with the distortian on and the pre amp on.For pickup selection ide be neck.

Note i was using a fender mustang and a kustom quad 65 dfx when writing this

Some interesting chords there, definately not what I'd call a "standard grunge riff". I'd like to hear some audio too 😁

I'd say beware of using high gain distortion with chords other than powerchords/5ths, anything more complex can get very mushy and sound baaaad.

That's not true all the time. It really depends on the voicing, type of distortion, and pickups.
