New 65 Reissue (sold in the US)

New to the forum and Mustangs. Got a MIJ Jazzmaster and tried a new 65 Reissue Mustang at the local GC that I liked a lot. Is this the same version of the 65 that has been available from Japan for a long time? Are there any differences, like the pups or neck? I would rather buy a used MIJ if they are the same. Thanks for any input.

I love the guitar, played it at a local shop. Plays real nice and you have to love the pearloid pickguard on the Dakota and Daphne. My favorite of the reissues so far.

Jaundice - You say this is your favorite of the reissues. Since this new one is the only one I've played, what is different or improved over the other '65 and '69 reissues? The other MIJ reissues I've seen on ebay are running $400-550 for clean to NOS, I'm wondering if the extra money for the new ones is really worth it. Thanks.

tis true, many an Oakland Puss-Proprietor flaunts the perloid stang guard. i've seen them.

It's only worth it if the small details are important to you. I personally really want one, but as a player I don't find the difference between the two too large.

The small details are what make it my favorite. The slab body, the correct logo on trem (I know I'm picky but if I'm going to spend as much as it costs it makes a difference), better more accurate bridge with no gaps. Also the Daphne blue color and pickguard as stated before. I just like this one the best so far it has all the small details that make it better. So the point is if small detals are important then this is the best.

Thanks for the explanation Jaundice. Makes perfect sense. Not knowing much about the other reissues, that new Mustang I played really had something going for it. Maybe it was in the details.
