Mosrite Copies

I think that Mosrites are one of the sexiest guitars ever. There also hellishly expensive. I've never had the pleasure of playing one; I've never even had the pleasure of being in a store with one. I dont know if I even like the sound but I love the look.

So I wouldnt want a real one even if I could afford it because I might have to mod it to get my sound. I've heard that real Univox HiFliers have skinny necks. Has anyone played the Eastwood HiFliers? I know they have set necks instead of bolt-ons but are they as skinny?

How about other Mosrite copies?

the Dillion copy or maybe the Fullerton MojoVibe

the Wilson Brothers copy looks like ####.

Which one apeals the most to you?

i can tell you at least the body of the hi-flyer copies are about twice as thick as a real univox, don't know about the neck though.

i agree with you that mosrites are sexy. for me, they've always epitomised luxury and class in an electric guitar in a way i know companies like gretsch and rickenbacker are supposed to.

We have a shop here in Ottawa called Retro Town Music that carries them. I've seen/played the Eastwood guitars and they're not too bad. I enjoyed it.....check out some of these.....

Eastwoods are made in the same factory (with many identical parts) as Aldens (who also make Mosrite copies).

they have gay headstocks though. but they're almost identical

jay tursers are alden/eastwoods as well, and they sell those mosrite copies (the one that looks more mosritey than the hi-flyer, first pic)

I considered the black hardtail Eastwood hi-flyer for a while but i always end up buying another Fender.....maybe next year. If someone does purchase one we want reviews.

univox's are up on ebay for around 200-350

the alden is pretty fantastic to be honest, nice neck binding, good finish, half decent hardware and the entwhistle pickups are very impressive. havent had a chance to play with the amp cranked up yet but so far so good!
