Distortion pedal with indipedent modes?

Hi all,

could anyone propose a single pedal (not an effects machine) that gives two distortion sounds where the distortion of each "mode" can be set seperately?

The BOSS DS-2 can be connected to a footswitch to change between the two modes but the distortion level for the both is the set by the same control so increasing it for one mode does the same for the other tpo.

I hope i'm making sense.

The Boss SD-2 Dual Overdrive does this, but it has dual layered pots, so you cna control each channel independantly.

I guess i'll have to buy a twin pedal at least, like the BOSS OD-20.

Good thinking Lou, I quite fancy a Jeckyll and Hyde, plus you wouldn't need an external footswitch, and they're still in production.

i reccomend the rat deucetone

it's actually switchable between 3 different rat circuits per side, with a "clean rat" on one and "dirty rat" on the other, vintage and turbo rats on both. expensive (i'd shop around for the best price) but i LOVE it and it definately fits the bill of what you're describing. you even have the option of plugging into each channel seperately OR using the master input/outputs (though i've yet to discover a use for that).

As for a use for two in/two out, it would be cool if you had a stereo guitar or stereo effect before it.

my vote goes for the jekyl hyde though. its nice and the 2 modes dont sound similar

I was gonna track one down when I was on the hunt for a nice 2-in-1 pedal, but the reviews of it are kinda iffy. Still wanna try one though.

Definately wanna try a Deucetone at some point too, I love my RAT2 longtime, I like the idea of more RATTY goodness from one pedal..

Re: the Jekyll & Hyde, I had one for a while but didn't quite get on with it. My review is 2nd down here if you fancy an in depth..

The lead and left rhythm guitars on the Weevil Knievel stuff (see sig) were done with the J&K if you're interested in checking it out.

you could get a Boss LS-2 line selector, and have 2 different distortion pedals in the A and B effects loops.

LS-2 also allows you to out put to two different amps, or blend the two effects, AND it has a 9v power output jack so you can power 5 or so pedals from the LS-2 with the special boss power daisy-chain lead.

I'm actually looking to buy one cheap off ebay, cos i wanna output to two amps simultaniously.

Yeah, isn't the dirty dog actually valve powered or something? That's why it's so big, I read a massive in depth thing about it in a Peavey Magazine and it sounded awesome, but it was a Peavey mag so it's not going to say anything bad about it.

Here is the on I currently own. its pretty nice. The top circuit is really high gain and the bottom is more like classic MXR distortion.

DIGITECH PDS-1220 programmable distortion a/b and on off footswitches, 0ctave,freq,cut/boost,2 gain/ 2 vol but its an old as pedal....i have one but no way im sellin, i seen some on ebay though.....oh and there are about 7 or 8 dip switches under the bottom plate and a hi pass minipot!!!!!!! killer pedal worth the search
