I have owned a sunburst '71 Jag w/a maple fretboard & black block inlays & binding for about 14 yrs. I have been a Jag obsessive for even longer & the only one I've ever seen in the flesh is my own. Never seen one in any books, mags or videos. Only pics I've even seen are on this site & fenderjaguar.net. (Corgan w/"my guitar" is pretty new to me, maybe partly 'cos I liked his music alot better when he had hair, but I digress...) So yeah, they're pretty rare, although they will never be worth what the pre-CBS Jags are. There were very few Jags made in the '70's, anyways--look at the trends in music, I'd say the Jags' (& Jazzy's) popularity started to plummet around '66, when surf was all but dead & buried & garage bands were getting more & more psychedelic--more like Cream or Jefferson Airplane than say the Sonics or the Standells. I often wonder who bought my guitar new--I'm at least the 3rd owner--as it was still an expensive guitar, but very "ten years ago" in terms of hipness.
I'll post a pic or 2 later...
