Good price?

I'm looking at a 1966 Fender Mustang. The guitar is white with the red tortoise shell pickguard, as far as I can tell all original, and in good condition except for beats and scratches on the finish. The guitar sounds and plays like a dream. It comes with the original case as well.

Is $1300 USD a good price? This is on Long Island, and the guitar is a known quantity, where as I'm leery of buying one on ebay which I will not be able to try before I buy.

Are there any major discrepancies between a pre-CBS Mustang and a 1966?

that price is quite decent indeed. I paid $1723 for a 64 the September before last...but, it's def. pre-cbs. And yes...there are discrepancies...different tuners, different logos...I can't think of the others off-hand ATM...

no...other than having a decent setup, your guitar should sound fine. As for the difference between your 66 and my 64 regarding sound, there should be none.
