"HELP DATE MY MUSTANG"

Hi I have had my mustang for about 20 yrs . ufortunately I stripped the original paint when I was a kid . I now want to know exactly what iv got . Theres no date on the neck but there is a stamp its a circle with F/R/R INSP inside it and the numbers 5073 outside the circle . The headstock has the serial no S718285 and made in USA .

click on the pic, then you'll see (in a new page) 3 options to your right. Simply left click on the 3rd url and you'll see something pop up and say "copied". Then, when you make a post, paste it and post it.

Thanks to everyone for the help. Just one more thing any idea what a pro paint job costs? it was red originally but I like the white what do you think.

it was red original, you sure of this? i was unaware that they made red jags with black guards.

the pots, or the exposed part is what we were looking for.

aug is probly your best bet for a refin. unless you want to go to some shmuck in the mountains and pay him 350.00 for a crap job.

in 1978 i dont think they made red ones, and the only one with the black pickguard was the natural finish one I belive that the walnut and the all black one.

yep...it's a refin. and the pics are too blurry to see the pot dates.

the ceramic is huge, looks to originally been a nat finish, then a red, then a white.

what we need are a close up of the pots to better predicted the age, but that will only really get us within 6 months or so of the age.

if its a nice geeter then why worry about it?
