i was making a kurtified jag, myself as a little fun project since i bought a jag for christmas, bought the Dimarzio PAF and Super Distoriton and had them installed,

plugged it and played, it sounded different like low and stuff, it didnt have any harmonics or even remotly sound like kurts, it was muffy, no it wasnt the strings or the amp, i have a strat with a JB in it and it sounds fine. so am i missing something about kurts jag? i was thinking it was the pickups but he had those PUs so i dont know why it would sound differnet, i was thinking later on down the road i would just put two JBs in istead.

can i get some insight guys?

make sure you have got some newish strings on it.

I'd put some 13s on it. I tried electro acoustic strings once and they gave a brighter sound.

Have a nice in between pickup height. Wack the treble right up on the amp, guitar, pedal.

could the pole spacings be that way, i got regular spacing instead of F-spacing, i didnt know the differnece was in the spacing when i ordered but i know now, but could that be the problem?

I don't think there would be that much of a difference.

How muffled is it, and are you sure they're connected correctly?

thanks guys ill adjust the height, and tell you how it turned out, im pretty sure thats what it is becuase now that i think about it they are pretty low

About a 1cm or 1/3 " from the strings should be a fairly decent height for the bridge 'bucker, for a fairly Cobain-y clean sound. Too close, and the strings' vibration will be effected by the pickup's magnet, and the strings will probably catch on the pickup when you're playing high up the neck.

yeah ill try that when i get to my friends house, i really apprciate the help guys. yeah that third knob is connected to the neck humbucker so i could turn it down or off if i wanted. so ill let you guys know how it turns out.

Hmm, i wouldnt put in 2 Jb's if i were you. Im not sure if SD makes Jb's for the neck position.
