Hi guys.

Does anyone know anything about the shielding on vintage mustangs?

My '66 has lost it's shielding at some point, long before i got it, and i want to replace it. I'm thinking of bidding on some 63 duo sonic shielding plates on Ebay and am wondering if these will fit. They look like they would, are the routes the same shape?

I'm trying to get my basket case back up to speed and get it close as poss to original, cept for the paint, and the shielding is the last port of call!

Aug, could you shield a guitar using standard aluminium foil? I've been thinking about doing it to my Jaguar, but I'm not sure if it would work.

Hey again guys.

Got the shielding now, ready to go in but where does the wire that is on the pick up shield need to be soldered to? I just don't know. The shielding iunder the pots was already in place and attached to the pots. Does anyone have a shielding diagram or something? This is the final thing i need to do and then i'm done and i'll put pictures up. Thanks, Ollie

I think that the wire you are talking about passes through the hole to the control route & is soldered to the shield plate, don't forget that there is a small wire that connects the control plate & trem plate, it sits between the two, under the pick guard. Follow this link & check the vintage pics, you can just make out the wire between the control plates.
