I wanted to say Mustang Bass right away, but after checking it out closely....I dunno....It really looks like it has that Jag-Stang butt end to it....Maybe something NEW coming from Fender in 2007? That'd be kinda cool actually.

It's a Mustang, look at it at an angle, and you'll see the overly round horns.

As for the JAg-Stang bass, if Fender don't do it, I will (I've had an idea for one for years).

i beleive it to something new or custom, not a normal mustang bass.

I always saw the Jag-Stang bass as this, a Mustang bass with a humbucking pickup in the bridge, with 62' Jazz Bass type controls (Stacked Pots, volume/tone for each pickup, and a Jag-Stang type body shape elongated a little bit.

The tough choice for me is where the neck joins the body, should it be more like a Mustang Bass with the fretboard going well into the body, or with the 18th fret joining more like on the guitar.

The stacked pot idea is more from a Bass aesthetic, but if I were to go my way, it'd be one volume, one tone, and a 3-way switch, probably a slider acting as a pickup selector, located in a not as intrusive spot, like the treble side horn ala. Gibson Firebird IV 3-pickup non-reverse.

A Jag-Stang bass would need a super-size body scaled up like the neck would be. The Jag-Stang has a really teeny weeny body, it'd look ugly otherwise.

my future project will be to make a jag-stang bass. Considering the mustang bass has the same sized body as the 6 string, it would make sense not to scale the jag-stang bass project up.

I would not ruin it by putting a humbucker in it either. It would look too aggressive. A short scale bass does not need such powerful pickups (in my opinion). It would be exactly like a mustang bass only, with a different shaped body.
