It's important to state that he didn't do this mod himself, Fender Japan did a limited release of the Fender Jaguar with all these mods done as standard. They're not incredibly difficult to do yourself, you just need to be able to route out space for humbuckers, and then drill the third pot hole in the control plate and do the rewiring necessary (Kurt wired his a little different I believe). The mod is unnecessary, but if you like the humbucker sound then it's your choice, it's your guitar!
