Differences between the American and Japanese '65........

What are they? Without seeing the "crafted in japan" stamp on the back of the neck or taking the guitar apart, how would you know the difference between an original and a reissue?

are you talk about the original 65's or the new usa reissues?

for one,

the headstock decal is gold on the us, and black on the japs

the u.s. jags have a device called the mute. the japs don;t

the clear coat is different as well. the us being laquer and the japs being.....( i forget)

pickguard colors are a good indicator, as well as body colors.

i think the japs and us re-issues have beveled pole pieces on the pups and the vintage jags had straight pole pieces.

I'm talking about one of the '65 jap reissues that are being sold here in the US and an original '65.

Is the '65 reissue an exact replica of the original in terms of everything (the body, the neck, the nutwidth, the colors used for and placement of the logo, screws and their placement, tremolo, size of the tremolo bar,etc.)

In other words, can anyone here tell the difference from a frontal view of the guitar that it is not an American '65?

other than the fact that it'll look brand new? No.

Originals had poplar bodies. Clay dots, and different pots inside. The decal is also slightly different; no streaks on the 'mustang' section.
