Sonic Blue with Red Pick guard

New to the Forums but not new to this website.

Over the years and some experiments so far I've done all the typical stuff. wrapped the bridge poles, Locked the tremello with bolts, New SD pickup, rewired and lowered the switches, chrome knobs and now got a red pick guard from ebay.

I usually use pretty thick strings something like 11-52 or 12-54.

You should put the original knobs back on, or get tele knobs. those rounds ones look cheap.

I'll keep my eye out for some better knobs (I agree the ones I got are cheap looking). I usually go for a clean look with my stuff, and I thought the black kinda didn't go as well.. unless I had a black pickguard. Which I was considering.

I am considering refinishing the body, Maybe a pearl white or lighter blue.

Call me old-fashioned. I still prefer the bog-standard pearl pickguard and the original black knobs... 😀 However a white refin sounds nice!

good, although i dont really like js'. a brown shell pg would have suited it better i think, the red one looks kinda cheap-ish

I like it quite a lot! Except the knobs, but still...it's quite nice! 😆

You'll lower the value of it!.

If you are considering it, can I swap my beat up body for yours? Mine actually needs refinishing, whereas yours is immaculate.

That's a myth, I've seen a few refinished Jag-Stangs go for a LOT recently. If it's an original and in mint condition, you'll still get plenty of money if you sell it at the right time.

Who cares if a refin devalues it, its meant to be enjoyed and if it makes him happy then go for it. I think it'd make it a bit more unique! If its done well it probably wouldn't affect the value much at all!

I agree to a certain extent.

It just pains me to see a collectors item altered in any way.

I wouldn't pay equal price for a refin jag-stang.

I would hate a refinish too, but its got the classic big corner chip from the strap coming off I think. and a couple "mystery dings" on the back.

I use a strap lock thing now.

I looked at some Telecasters the other day, I will definately look for some knobs when i get the chance. They look alot more "vintage style".

I'll probably won't get around to refinishing for a long time though. Maybe after I buy another guitar. I'm all talk. ha ha

I've seen a couple of refinished js's, most good.. especially the sherwood green one on ebay a while back.

Personally though, i think yours looks great how you've got it. The only thing i would consider changing is the knobs.
