What are the best pickups for my Jagstang?

Hi I'm new here, and have been the proud owner of a fiesta red Jagstang since December. I think it's time for me to get some decent pickups for it. I know I should get Seymour Duncans but which ones? I'm going to change the bridge humbucker and the neck singlecoil. The stuff I play is Nirvana, just to give an idea of the sound I'm looking for.

Hi and welcome. May I give you a reality check for a moment? Just changing pickups won't produce instant tonal nirvana - what about the rest of your rig?

If Kurt Cobain had been alive today and you'd given him your stock Jag-Stang to play during a live set; along with Krist and Dave - then you're going to get immediate Nirvana - no matter what pickups are fitted. Getting that sound comes from the soul and the fingers, mixed with a bit of attitude - not just magnets and wire! 😛

replace the 250k pots per an 500k pots ... check if wiring is fine

but its not give kurt sound , its will sounds better than originals of coz ....

if bridge not stable do that setup

Yeah I know I'll never sound like Kurt. But any improvement to the sound of the guitar would be a plus.

I think I might just leave it stock for the time being, after all 'What ain't broken...........'

I'm disappointed: I was really expecting someone to argue, I put a Seymour Duncan JB clone in mine and got a huge improvement in sound through my 10w SS jar 'o' angry wasps... 😆

My JS is stock and the only thing I'd change is the fingerboard radius, which has never really suited me. I've got better guitars and wouldn't waste the money on more expensive pickups. The stock single coil is decent enough quality and to my ears the 'bucker matches it adequately when both are working together. Of course it's going to sound weak if you stick to the piddly 9 gauge strings the guitar was supplied with...
