Hey Players,

The last two posts I've put up have helped out huge, and now I'm in need of more help.

When I'm playing through a distored amp (usually a Fender Twin), I'm getting massive feedback that disappears as soon as I touch one of the three metal face plates.

I've brought it in to my tech twice, and nothing. The same issue seems to be there, despite him saying it's fine.

I had a 1/4lb Seymour Duncan put in the bridge postition as well, but I think the buzz was there (although not as bad) before.

ANY ADVICE??? I'm one of those technically challenged players. I really want to love this guitar, but I cant record/perform with that sort of annoyance.

hey there, i think its just a grounding problem.

That's what I think too, and thoughts what I told the tech to look at, but alas... it's still there. Any idea how to fix this?

i think it might be either the bridge grounding or the tailpiece

it's hard to diagnose without just rechecking all the contacts to make sure everything is as it should be. i've never really understood the whole "feedback unless the circuit is grounded by you touching a metal plate" thing. are you positive it's actually feedback, and not just buzz?

At higher volume's I suppose I'm quick to label it feedback. At lower volume's, it does seem to sound like a buzz.

since a new pup has been installed it may be that the back of the pup needs an extra ground wire. im not saying for sure buit its a possiblity

hmmm, if it isn't actually feedback, then there could be nothing wrong and it could be completely normal.

a sound recording could clear this up for sure...

Yeah sounds normal to me too. You get a bit of noise when you aren't touching the metalwork and heavy gain/distortion/compression can make this sound pretty lairy.

Sounds like the strings aren't grounding. Get a meter and connect one end to the ground side of the input socket and the other to one of the strings, if there's a connection then I'm wrong, if there isn't then that's your problem. Because it sounds like it's grounding when you touch one of the metal plates, but doesn't when you touch the strings, which it should do.
