jap jags are really good guitars.
the guitars comming out of japan are just as good as the us jags,
altho, if you do get a normal jaguar you are going to want to switch out the pups for american ones, or at least wax pot them.
guitar center never carries anything cool. you should try to play one if you can but if not then go for ebay or an independent person.
the hh has a different neck radius then the normal jag.
it has what is called a compund radius, which means that it will get flatter towards the bridge to made bends a bit easier with lower action.
as far as refinishing, you can do it yourself with paint from a site called re-ranch.
and if you don;t want to do it yourself there are a few people on this board and the shortscale.org that are completely capable of doing it for you.
