Put the string though the hole in the tailpiece, stretch the string out to the tuners. Cut the string so there's an inch and half (or so) beyond the post you're gonna be putting it into like so:
Poke the string into the hole in the post and push it in as far as it'll go. Bend the string into the "groove" on the top of the post and get a-windin'.
