Actually, I think those guitars are more show than anything, I remember my ex-room mate's 7 year old watching their tv show, saw a Mustang on that show as well. I never got the idea on why they're so popular, but that's just me.
Anyway, I think we'll be hard pressed to find a lot of bands using the Jag-Stang, since most people are under the misconception that that was "Kurt Cobain's Main Guitar", therefore, can't be played as a serious instrument by anyone but Kurt Cobain. It seems the majority of them have some connection to grunge/nirvana/kurt in some way. It may not be a signature model, but it does have some of that signature model stigma, the same reason you don't see a serious blues band with original tunes playing an Eric Clapton or SRV Stratocaster.
However, I just ignore all this "signature" "it's his guitar model" hogwash and play whatever I darned well please.
