which pickup should i get?

okay help me decide about a bridge replacement pickup

sd vintage

avri

novak vintage

okay, its those three. the sd's are largely available here and i wouldnt have to order them and theyre hand made and stuff and they are about the same price as the avri pickups. the novaks on the other hand are kinda expensive but i hear good comments and stuff about them.

so is the sd vintage a really vintage sounding pickup? on the sd site the dirty sound sounds nothing like a jazzmaster and sounds very high output-y

personally, i would go for AVri. the seymours and novaks are more faithful to original 60's pups i think. so they will probably be more brittle sounding

what i am really interested in is j mascis clean tone on the first dinosaur record. its kinda vintage, but i dont know, it doesnt sound like any jazzmaster.

basically i've been getting a lot of comments lately saying that the av's are thin as well

well, they are single coils i suppose. i'll make you a sound sample of my AV pups though a classic 30 if you want

no, dont bother, i have the jazzmaster pickup samples from that site which compares a few of them
