Cyclone II Questions (Not about I or II)

Well, I'm considering getting a Cyclone II, as there's one for sale at a shop near me for about $1100 AU.

Anyway, I want to get surf/noise/post punk sounds out of it.

Keep in mind I now have a standard strat.

My ideal guitar would be a Jag, but it's going on three times the price of the Cyclone II, and I was wondering if it would be a good choice?

play it, try it, only you can be the judge of whats right for you and your sound.

Bear in mind, it's single coil equiped, meaning it'll hit those Suft sounds on the head, but it may be too thin for the punky stuff, same as your strat. But like Robert said, try it, it's your choice!

At the end of the day, if you mess around enough, you can achieve pretty much anything you want from anything, and worst case scenario, you could always change a pickup. Try it and see how it feels in your hands.

don;t forget, your amp has alot to do with your sound.

there aren;t 50,.000 different amps that exist just for looks, its all about the sound.

a CIJ Jaguar should be significantly cheaper than a Cyclone II. You're probably looking at the American Jaguars, which are expensive and aint worth it.

a few people have said that the cyclone II sounds more like a strat than a jag. Personally i tried one in a shop, and its a very versatile instrument - definitely nicer sounding than a CIJ jag anyway!

an american jag is definitly worth the extra 400.00 or so.

my jag was 900.00 so basically the extra 300.00

i love laquer, in my opinion its the only way to go and come on, hard case all the candy, the mute, cover. all the goodies. you don;t get any of that stuff with a brand new cij jag.

not to mention wax potting.

sorry i din't mean to offend - just if you're looking to buy a jag, i would buy a cheaper japanese one first rather a US one. You could always then change the pickups if you dont like them.

Also over here in the UK the American reissue jaguars go for around

p.s. we do get ass-raped on guitar prices in the UK - but then it is an American made reissue, you're bound to get it cheaper.

i think we get british amps (Marshall, Orange) a bit cheaper..but no that much ☹

Bear in mind the scale and tremolo setup have a lot to do with the Jag's sound- putting a Jaguar pickup in another guitar isn't gonna give you instant Jag sounds.

The Cyclone II's pickups are also angled, which would affect it's "Jag-ness" too.

maybe it should be, but it is not

here a cyclone is/was about 580
