That's because Jackson and Charvel are the same brand under 2 different names.
Charvel came first in the late 70's, and got popular because of Edward Van-Halen, they made guitars that were very much like his in a lot of ways, he got ticked with them when they started copying the guitar he had on the second album cover.
Charvel picked up Randy Rhoads as an endorser, and Randy wanted to do a new Flying Vee style guitar, and Jackson was scared of how well it would do (since Randy was not yet very famous if I recall), so the Rhoads vee was designed, and to save Charvel's arse if it failed, they called it a Jackson.
I know Charvel and Jackson both made them, there was no difference between the two. I remember when the Charvel Surfcaster first came out, it was sometime around 1995, just a little before the Jag-Stang did. It was what I wanted before the Jag-STang came out.
And yeah, that picture of whatshername from MBV does not help my Guitar Aquisition Syndrome for that model much either.
