Jag Stang question?

Hi everybody I dont know anything about guitars dont even play, and just happened to come across a Fender Jag Stang made in Japan Serial #Q0417xx. Fender web site says its a 1993-1994 model. Its a light blue almost turqoise color and I was just wodering how much it may be worth. It looks like its in great shape. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. I looked on ebay but I wasnt sure if there was a difference if there was cheap ones or what.

Ok I really know nothing about this thing except the serial number is Q041794 after further reading on this forum I have come to find out it seems like it is easy to misunderstand what year guitar you have. I know nothing somebody please just tell me something about it. I will get a camera and post some pics as soon as I can. I just want to know some info about what I got.

The Q at the beginning of the Serial # on Jag-Stang guitars means a post 2000 model (I think 2002-2004ish), because the Jag-Stang was not even in production till late late 1995.

Q + 6 DIGITS 1993-1994

I guess this is obviously a misprint since they werent in production till 1995.

I believe there have been atleast a few who mysteriously been dated to '93-'94. Makes me believe that Jag-stang was put into production in late '94, but possibly only available in Japan until '95. I really don't know, though.

It's possible, they'd have had to have built up stock before releasing it, so maybe they're from then, maybe the first few had '94 serial numbers even though they wheren't released untill '95.

take off the neck, that will most likeyl have the date of when it was fully assembled, i know mine is oct13 96.

no matter what year they are from or anything they are all stil worth about the same it seems that they have been jumoing in price so you could get about 600.00 for it if you just had the guitar and a gig bag, if its minty minty with a hardshell case and you make a remark about the kurts, then you could get like 700.00 or maybe a lil bit more.

Or alternatively stick it in a flight case, replace the case door with clear plastic. Add Kurt Cobain photos, and a copy of the journels and you'll make $1200 😆

Also, make sure to use a date when the Jag-stang wasn't in production, when corrected on this issue, pick a random year when it was in production. Never use the serial number in the item description. 😛

I would also buy a moth eaten green cardigan from a charity store, add it in the sale claiming kurdtz was your uncle and the JS is the prototype.

More seriously, the JS is rapidly rising in value due to it being discontinued. UK ebay stores have a few at BIN prices as high as 500+ pounds($1000+), quite ridiculous and i dont think anyone is desperate/deranged enough to pay that...yet.

Makes you wonder though, give it a few more years, maybe the next big anniversary of kurts death when everything gets hyped up they could be changing hands for waaaay to much money. Maybe I'll hang onto mine for a few more years 😀

It will always be a jap Fender though, and no matter what.. they have always been viewed inferior to american made Fender's.

If the JS has a future i dont think it is with the kurdtz connection (if anything it puts possible buyers off), the fact that it is a very good all-round rock guitar with different looks are more important.
