Jaguar w/ lipstick tube pickups

I was wondering if it'd be possible to mod a (1994 MIJ) Jaguar with lipstick tube pickups?

I know Seymour Duncan makes two versions, one for Danelectro guitars (http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/specializeddescr.shtml#lipstick) and a set for Stratocasters, (http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/stratsdescr.shtml#lipstick) .

I doubt either of these would fit perfectly with no work required; but which would be easier to fit in? Also a general opinion of Jaguars w/ lipstick tube pickups would be well accepted 😀

It looks like the strat sized ones could fit, I think you'll lose the Jag charm if you put in those pickups though. Get a Danelectro, they're pretty cheap.

I was seriously considering just getting the Danelectro '59 DC Reissue, it would be an interesting guitar to mess around with I think.

Although if I ever happen to have (much) extra money, Jaguar w/ Lipstick tube pickups would be interesting.

In order to not lose visual pleasure I'd probably try to sink in the lipstick tubes halfway, so that it is at the diameter of the pickup; rather than sticking out like that.

jon, this fellow that owns a music store in town wants me to make him a strat/jag thing with lipsticks in it.

To put lipstick pick-ups into Jag you won't avoid some serious work. Lipstick is much bigger than an ordinary single so both pickguard and the body has to be cut for sure. But those lipsticks made by Seymour Duncan are great , I have them installed in my danelectro 59 dc.

I think trying them on Jag would be a interesting idea but only if you are curious enough to change your guitar permanently.

I say go for it, but then again I love lipstick pickups. With the Strat sized one there shouldn't be too hard to do. SRV had a Strat with the older/bigger Danelectro style lipsticks in it; I have a recording somewhere I believe with him using that guitar.

I like the sound and the look a lot and the history of use behind them; and also i'm extremely curious how it would sound on a Jaguar, maybe I'll wait till robert installs them and tries them out, just to see what results it will produce

its not permanent.

anything can be redone and changed back to original.

even if you rout out some of the body. you can fill it and paint it.

even if yourguard has to be cut yo can always make/ ordera new one.
