Blane hit the nail on the head, apparently 120bpm is the most natural tempo for a human to dance to, so I've been told.
You should check out an artist who goes by the name of Quantic, it's more chilled electronica but it's a great example of where guitar can fit in modern electronic music, there's some #### hot guitar playing on his 5th exotic album (not on every track though). Very blusey guitar seems to work.
Gorillaz are a great one because they (or he really, seeing as the music is mostly Damon Albarn) really mix Britrock, Hip-Hop and Dance, it's probably the most creative thing to come out of Britain for a long time and covers all aspects of what you seem to be after.
