A few Mustang wiring questions.

Yesterday, whilst cleaning my Mustang, I noticed I had a snapped wire. Upon closer inspection, I found I also had a few rather poor connections. So, I've decided that now is as good a time as any to begin on my restoration (I bought the guitar used and, while it isn't in bad condition by any means, there are a handful of things that need some work.). For now, I'm just looking to replace the old wiring with new stuff and get is back on it's feet (New pickups and whatnot will follow as money permits.). Mainly, I'm not sure what type of wire to use--or rather, what type would be best. Will the wire I choose affect the instrument's over all tone and, if so, how? Does anyone have any words of wisdom or helpful hints?

try re-soldering a simple guitar first, then move to the mustang, and make sure you have an understanding of why each wire goes to each contact point,

it is all common sense really, but it would help if you followed each one as they are right now and used commons sense to figure out why each one is in its respective spot.

I would recommend clothe wring, its the while vintage vibe for me i guess.

Ditto everything Rob said appart from the cloth wire thing because I've never used it.

I learned to wire guitars this way, now's your perfect chance.

As long as the wire is of reasonable quality it won't make a difference, but cloth wire, as Rob suggested, will look damn cool!
