Can anybody help me with with my Low E buzz???

Hi fellow Jagstang owners.

I am after some help with setting up my jagstang if anyone can help, and have 2 questions.

Question1

I seem to have loads of Low E Buzz on my guitar and even the low A string a bit too, and despite adjusting the bridge it still seems to give this buzz. I just don

to answer your first question, try using heavier strings. also, I'm wondering if your truss rod needs adjusting...

personally, I wouldn't even mess with the TOM, but answer the Q, no, you won't need new pups.

I already have like some 11-48 strings on there and still gives it? Is it just a case of adjusting the bridge higher and putting up with the action?

The buzz seems to come from the strings hitting the frets. I take it the truss rods are the rods within the neck that adjust the curve of the fretboard?

I doubt I will bother with a TOM, I have done as advised tho and taped the posts to secure them which works well and is really easy to do.

is this a new guitar? if so, you'll just need to adjust the truss.

Yess its a new guitar. Well by that I mean I bought it in 1996 and has since buying been left in its box under my bed unplayed for years and has only recently seen fresh air. I think im gonna need it professionally set up by the looks of things. I aint a guitar technician myself or anything so I dont think id trust myself to adjust the truss without damaging my jagstang. Do all new guitars need the truss adjusting then??

all new guitars need a proper set-up, which includes truss adjustment.

Even after a pro setup, your truss rod might need occasional adjustment. Also consider investing in a very good book - Dan Erlewine's Guitar Player Repair Guide: How to Set Up, Maintain and Repair Electrics and Acoustics.

Truss rods tweaks might sound daunting at first, but once you get the hang it's quite easy to do.

1st thing tomorrow im off for it professionally set up, I hope it makes all the difference, but your right a guitar player repair guide is deffo a great idea for future use and maintenance.

Most techs don't even know the difference between a Mustang and a Jaguar.

Always seeing kurt playing his Jaguar but hearing Mustang was his favorite convinced me for the first year of my guitar playing life that is was a Mustang.

I'd call places and ask how much a Mustang was and it was the cheapest , I was pissed when I found out it was a Jaguar and cost the most. Bah.

When I saw kurt's jag for the first time I was like "kool I'm getting a Jaguar" then I found out his was modified up the wazoo and a stock jag wouldn't sound anything like it. Not to mention the toggle switch and teh black tape on it.

He must have loved that jag though - cause he never did smash it to nada.

Most Nirvanabes don't find that out until after their parents buy them a Jag.

But he wasn't as careful with the Jag as with his Mustangs. Especially to the fact that he had a few Mustangs, and, practically, used only one Jaguar (Kurt's Equipment FAQ claims he owned two Jags, though) but he still had been more careful about the first ones. The Jaguar kept being thrown onto the ground after (and sometimes - during) most of the shows all the time. 😎 Look at the "Lithium" video - Jag really gets a nice contact with the scene about 1:48. And that famous "Love buzz" where he strikes someone's face whith the body of his Jaguar... Hmm... Maybe he just settled down after recording "In Utero", when he started to use the Mustangs more and it's only a coincidence?

Ok so I booked my guitar in for a professional set up. The guy says it will take a week?? Is this serioulsy true is are they just taking the piss? At a cost of

I ve seen loads of peoples pics of their jag-stangs on here and was wondering what guitar stand they were using to hold it? Ive been looking for a guitar stand for mine as its currently hung on the wall and dont want it to be faided in the light, and whenever I have enquired about one for a jagstang have been told I NEED one with a gripping neck like a Hercules stand as other stands will simply only hold it on one of the bottom bars. Can anyone help, do I need one of these special neck grip stands or will a simple good quality steady base holding stand do the job for me?
