i got bored the other day and decided to make a template of my jag-stang, then i decided to make it, and then before you know it i had it all put together, minus a few screws the bridge and strigns

sounds about right. Are you using 1/4" particle board/masonite? I have been, and have found that the guide bearings "eat" into it, making it smaller and smaller with every guitar I make. I'm thinking about making templates from some other material...perhaps plastic or something.

Yeah, but I have an 8,000 word report due in on Wednesday, of which I've so far done 3,000, seriously don't have 2 hours to spare.

Over the summer however will hopefully be a different story and you should see some interesting work from me I hope. I'm feeling very inspired at the moment, probably because I'm doing work, on my computer, and the computer is connected to the internet which contains everything in the whole wide world ever, and I tend to find everything in the whole wide world ever a bit distracting!

im using mdf board, 3/4 is my master template size.

then half inch thick for my working templates, i have 1-2 working templates of everying. which cause for alot of dust and a big pile of templates

Quick question:

You say you made a template of you JS. Do you literally mean you went round your JS with the router or would this seriously damage the finish with the bearing "eating in"? Just because I'm toying with doing this with my tele body but want to know if I'll ruin my guitar in the process.

well use it!!!!

i went around the guitar twice with masking tape and made sure it was firm all the way around, since its a slab body, you just need to make sure that your bearing is perfectly level with the side of your body.

p.s. i just did a refret on a 66 mustang neck and a 69 strat neck. wooo!!!!!(im in school again)
