How do I take these parts out?

Hi, Im new to this wonderful site. I am in the process of taking apart my MIJ Jaguar for a new paint job. Ive got everything off except the four threaded pieces by the bridge which are sunk into the body. I cant see a way to get them out. Now while its not 100% nessicary to get them out it will make the refinishing much easier and a much better job. Is there a disassembly guide or does anyone know of a way to get them out? You help would be appreciated...

Well I cant get a pic but i can do a crappy drawing in paint. When I said 4, I meant 2 of 1 kind, and 2 of the other. The only way I can see to get them out is to put the parts that thread into them back in and use a vise-grips to gently yank them out. I just dont want to damage anything.

Hmmm. Unless your Jag has an aftermarket bridge there should only be two bridge cups sunk into the body. You were right in thinking that you just have to yank them out of there, just be sure and do it carefully.

two for the bridge and two for the stop peice.

that equals 4, im smart!@!!!!

take a pair of plyers and pull straight out, don;t worry about denting it, i doubt it will get thry the paint and if it does then just steam it out before you refin.

Well its a Jaguar Special. I believe its a HH. I dont see it in the Sweetwater catalogue. But that where i got it from. Its the one that only comes in Black. Anyway, Im just going to sand off the clearcoat and Im going to paint it with Spectra FX Copper/Patina color changing paint. They claim that you need black as a backround color for the most drastic color changing effect. I have tried it on another broken Strat and it works pretty well. Then Ill re-clear it with the Nitro-Cellulouse I got from ReRanch. I can get pics later when Im finished.

is it tuned really really low or is it standard?

if its tuned really rewally low then its the baritone special(an hh with a b-b tuning)

and if its normal its a straight hh.

i have these clippers that i use for fretty that are perfect for that sort of thing but i have only ever seen them two places, and one was online...... soo

just pull em out, and if you can post pics of the color changing paint, that might lookng interesting.

No, Its standard tuning. Its not a Baritone Bass. But yeah, I got the headstock done. I figured Id start on that. Looks great to me. I will snag a camera from a buddy today or tomorrow and try to get some pics of the color changing effect. And Im gonna just try and pull those threaded thingies out like I mentioned earlier in the post. Ill let people know how that went.

if they're threaded, then you could just thread, say a bridge post into them, then pull it as hard as you can

rick brings a vvery good point to this,

put the thread pieces in and leave enough space to use the claw from a hammer to take it out like a nail.

OK,

I did get those things out. I just put the threaded part back in and used a pair of visegrips and wrapped the grippy part with some duct-tape for protection and they came out with just a little effort.

And finally some of the color that I see the most. You can really only see the greenish color when you look at it from an angle.

It does have 1 can of reranch clear on it and it is not polished to get the shiny clear I want. Im torn between leaving it at 1 can of clear or going for 2. I read when I bought the can of clear that 1 can would be more than enough for 1 guitar. But since then I have read some posts here where people say they use 2-3 cans on 1 guitar. So what should I do?
