Fuck me, not another issue... Wobbly knobs

Hey there, help me out here. The volume & tone controls from my cij are starting to wobble around and to move a lot.

Now , its not the knobs itselves, its the pots. I removed the knobs, the top part of the pot is moving, not a lot, but it is annoying.

Help, do I need new pots?

nah, i doubt it. there's always a bit of play in those shafts. you have to buy vintage stackpole pots if you don't want any play. but like i say, it doesn't matter, because it has nothing to do with the circuit contact or anything

Okay thanks. But what if they get so wobbly they fall off?

pull the control plate off, hold on to the pot, and tighten the nut with a proper wrench or pliers. problem solved.

aug, i tthink he is talkign about the center shaft peice.

dude, as long as it works, and works properly then no worries.

and remember this, the more you screw with something that is loose the worse it will get, so if you sit and turn the knob back and forth conplaining about how much it "wobbles" then its not really solving anything.

i say as long as it still works properly, then no worries.

but just in case, try what aug said.
