Well I've finally decided to buy myself a hollowbody and so far my first choice is the Epiphone Sorrento from the 90's. All the reviews seem consistent that I've read, great guitar with some feedback issues, which is not that big of a deal, I play mostly clean to overdriven anyways.
Anyways I was hoping some of you around here have either owned or played on the Sorrento. I've yet to find any in the shops around here to try out. One question I do have aside from the quality of it is (I keep getting contradicting statements) is the Sorrento fully hollow or semi?
I have playing on a few other Epiphone's, the Dot, Dot Studio and Sheraton. I think I dug the Sheratons sound the most but the feel and lay out of the Dot Studio I really liked.
My ultimate plan is to drop in a pair of lipstick pickups and do a small re-wire job to include a phase switch aside from a few small cosmetic things, pickguard and such.
So after all this, how is the Sorrento? I know the pickups/body shape is different but how's it compare to some of the Epiphone hollowbodys out now when it comes to fit and finish?
P.S. This guitar will be used mostly for my rockabilly, ska and blues stuff if it matters any.
