Painting my Jag

I have a right handed fiesta red 2005 jag-stang

I love the thing

I can get any tone i want out of it but more importantly the quality of the tones are amazing: I can make it sing like Jimi Hendrix or scream like Black Sabbath.

My point is that allthough this guitar sounds like all the best guitars crushed into one, I dont think that the simple fiesta red paint job does it justice. I was thinking about getting one of my arty friends (very skilled painter) to paint on some custom graphics. I was going to go with the kind of psychedelic floral thing with rainbow colours, what do you think?

Also how would you suggest I actually do it

As i do like the colour and dont want to sand it off

and i've heard that the polyurethane finish can take up to six months to dry

i dont think i could go without it for that long

no, nitro takes forever to dry. Just use the paints you get from any autobody paint store. It's a bit pricy, but completely worth it.

6 months!!!! laquer takes 2 weeks top end to dry before buffing it, and really thats just so you get the most shine for your buck. plus it does need to cure for a lil bit.

after two weeks, it's still a bit soft, robert...unless you're laying down super thin coats or summit.

8-9 coats is my magic number it seems,

on my tele neck i let it sit for..... probly almost 3 weeks, the tele body was only about 3 days and the guitar i built for chip was about 9 days.

i think exposing it to normal air helps out a bit too, intstead of leaving sit it a paint booth or bathroom for a long time.
